While we currently don't have a facility MRC Cincinnati is offering an in-house digital recording workshop in which students will spend six hours of class learning the basics of loop based non-linear audio editing which is the standard in hip-hop production today. Students will become very familliar with Apple's GarageBand audio editing software and leave the class with a CD of their own original song. Technical know-how is crucial for any member who wants to master the complicated studios we will provide, so the MRC will host intense training sessions. Our Audio Engineer will lead small groups of interested students through the intricacies of our large recording studio, and will focus more on mastering the equipment than on producing a song.
Staff members and volunteers from the Cincinnati musical community will provide lessons to MRC members in a variety of subjects including guitar, bass, keyboard, voice, and music theory. All lessons are free, and scheduling may vary depending on instructor availability.
Finding a place where they can make the amount of noise necessary to develop their chops as musicians is hard for a young band or music group. This is why MRC will provide this space for them. We plan to have at least one sound-proof rehersal space in which MRC members may schedule time to regularly practice their stuff without worrying about the neighbors making noise complaints!
If we are able to find a facility large enough to house a dance studio, we will offer hip hop dance classes. The sessions will be open to all members on a drop-in basis.
