The Music Resource Center is (unofficially) open! Last Friday we began inviting a select group of students who have already taken our Outreach class to participate in the center's "soft opening" for the next few weeks. We are currently open on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 2:30 to 6:00 and holding daily student orientations until our Grand Opening the weekend of August 7th. We have a list of about twenty to thirty students who will be invited to attend the studios and begin working while we continue final renovations on the building. Here are some photos from our first day!
Today's issue of the Cincinnati Enquirer featured a fantastic article about MRC! Here's a link to the article in case you missed it. We'd like to extend a special thanks to the Enquirer for doing the piece as well.
Getting Youths off the Streets with Music
Renovations and construction at the Music Resource Center began about three weeks ago and each day we are moving a little bit closer to our opening day which will be scheduled for this summer as soon as we have an exact date nailed down!
In the mean time we've had a number of generous donations and people helping out whom we would like to recognize and are now also permanently listed on our Partners and Sponsors page of this site.
Thank you very much to the following...
Habit's Cafe for providing proceeds from their "Get Down and Give Back" event to MRC - Cinci.
Cincinnati Color Company for donating paint for our building.
Ursuline Academy's Technology Applications class for providing us with fantastic promotional flyers.

We are already busy planning for our Party Like a Rock Star - 2009 event and would love to have you be a part of it! There are plenty of oppurtunities for sponsorship available. Yesterday we took a number of our Outreach students to the Bonneville offices to take a tour of their radio stations, talk with some members of the radio industry about what it takes to work there, and they also got to meet with special guest Flo Rida for a question and answer session as well as some photo oppurtunities. Flo Rida also took the time to talk to the kids for a while about the importance of staying focused on their education and family, and to have faith in themselves while giving 100% of themselves to whatever it is they are passionate about. Needless to say, the kids were very excited and many of them are very anxious to get into MRC and volunteer to help us get the place up and running. It was a great experience for everyone and we'd like to thank everyone at "The Sound" for making it possible and also give an extra special thanks to Flo Rida for taking the time to meet with our kids!
First and foremost you'll notice that we have a new logo design which is now the same as the original Music Resource Center in Charlottesville, Virginia's.

MRC is currently seeking help with equipment donations to help alleviate a bit of our start-up cost while our building is being renovated for opening. We could use any music or recording equipment you may have laying around from guitars and drums, to recording interaces and microphones, all the way down to instrument and microphone cables. Every little bit helps! For more details please see our donations flyer in the Get Involved section of the site.
We have very exciting news! We have finally signed the lease for our building on Woodburn Avenue. This means after a few months of renovations and setting up MRC - Cincinnati will be open.
